Meet The Face Behind The Blindman
I’m Andrew Caron, proud owner of The Blindman.
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
I grew up in Ste. Agathe Des Monts, Quebec.
I started my own business to enjoy the freedom to set my own schedule and interact with many people from different walks of life. The most enjoyable part of my day is meeting new people and seeing their beautiful homes.
I have been in this line of business for the past twenty-seven years. I installed my first vertical blind in a lakefront home in 1991. At the time, I was employed by West Kootenay Carpets in Castlegar and also had the responsibility of selling all types of flooring such as hardwoods, ceramic tile, carpets, and vinyl.
My relationship with WKC lasted until 1999, at which time I began employment with Jordans Floorcoverings and started my first blind business called Nelson Blinds. In 2005, I moved away from flooring sales completely and incorporated my business and re-branded into what is today TheBlindman.ca.
I typically spend my days traveling throughout the Kootenays measuring residential and commercial jobs, helping customers pick out window coverings that fit their needs, then returning in two to three weeks to install the custom-made products.
As the owner, my main responsibility rests in confidently assisting clients to choose the proper blinds which will suit their needs the best. My ability to clearly communicate with customers, thorough knowledge of products available in the industry, and expert installation skills allow me to provide first-class service to my clients.
I attribute my success to my perseverance, hard work and an ability to learn on the go, as well as the willingness to take risks. While I am proud of what I do, I appreciate the getup and go of young entrepreneurs in this day and age. I am inspired by those who have the confidence to get out and create their own work situations by sharing their passion with their communities.
When I am not at work, I love to get out and go for long walks, swim in the lake, play golf in the summer and cross-country ski in the winter. It's also nice to take a little holiday down South to the sunshine once a year. As an individual, I value family above all, close friendships and believe in doing good for others when the opportunity arises.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
